General Meetings

The club holds General Meetings which are usually on the first Thursday of each month (except Public Holidays and December) at 8.00 PM at the Australian Gemmological Association 380-382 Spencer Street, Melbourne. However, the meetings are not always not this date and not always at this venue, so keep an eye on the details below for updated information. There are slideshows, discussion of issues and interesting talks given by climbers at most meetings

Date Remarks
Thursday, March 1st

Glenn Robbins's Climbing Photography

What will you be doing on the evening of Thursday March 1 2007? Put this one in your diary. Glenn Robbins, climber and photographer will be doing a presentation of his work over his climbing career. This is an opportunity for you too spend some quality time checking out some power packed images from a range of destinations around the world. Also, what would you call living in Natimuk for around a decade in the heyday of your youth, as Glenn did? Many would call it, "Living The Dream". So this is going to be "Bigger Than Ben Hur". See you there.

When: 8.00 pm
Where: The Australian Gemmological Association 380-382 Spencer Street

Please Note:
1.Due to new public liability insurance requirements, the use a helmet specifically designed for rock climbing and which adheres to UIAA, CE or equivalent, is now compulsory for ALL trip participants at all times when climbing, belaying, or above or below a cliff.

2.The Club has no gear available for beginners to use. Ropes and protection may be generously provided by the trip leader and other experienced climbers on the trip. New climbers need to provide a helmet and harness which are specifically designed for rock climbing and which adhere to UIAA, CE or equivalent, and climbing shoes.

3. The club does not run abseiling trips. Commercial instruction groups can be approached for this.

4. Anyone who is planning on going on a trip should contact the trip leader well before the trip to register. This allows the leader time to organise enough experienced climbers to help out with new climbers on the trip. It also helps in organising transport so no one misses out.

5. Club trips are not intended to be instructional. If you are new to climbing and want to get out onto rock and learn to lead climb, see the VCC courses.

WANTED
Enthusiastic club members to lead a few club trips. It’s not a hard job; all that is required is a little knowledge of the area and the ability to co-ordinate transport for members.

We want leaders for trips to places like Black Ians Rocks, The Gallery, Ben Nevis, Asses Ears, Mt Buffalo etc. If you are interested in leading a trip (to any cliff you choose, even Werribee Gorge) please give Rob a call (0405 619 062) or or even leave a message on the club phone (0419 563 733).
